The growth of Indian fashion with its representation in the Cannes Film Festival

The Cannes Film Festival is an annual film festival held in Cannes, France, that throws the spotlight on new films and documentaries from the globe of various genres. Each year several artists, celebrities and even influencers alike are called to this film festival, involving a panel of judges, with Deepika Padukone being a part of this year's panel. With this, India is in the spotlight, with even the theme for the pavilion revolving around India— 'India the Content Hub of the World', making it the first country of honour at the Cannes Film Festival.


Several Indian designers of clothing, shoes and accessories (jewellery & bags) were showcased and donned by various festival attendees. Although few of the brands are already famous, it is still a huge deal to be represented at such a grand scale of the event. It beautifully showcases the immense talent of the Indian film and fashion industries.

Indian Fashion Designers

At the film festival, everyone dresses the best, always slaying in the best designer clothes out there. This year, like any other, saw celebrities and influencers in ensembles by various Indian fashion designers, both big names and growing ones. Some notable designer-wears spotted were Gaurav Gupta, Manish Malhotra, Sabyasachi, Shantanu & Nikhil, Advait, Mala & Kinnary, Abu Jani & Sandeep Khosla, Pankaj & Nidhi, Geisha Designs, Amit Agrawal, Gauri & Nainika, and Ambika Lal. Celebrities like Deepika Padukone, Helly Shah, Pooja Hegde, Tamannaah Bhatia, R. Madhavan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Meera Chopra, Regina Cassandra, and more to influencers like Masoom Minawala, Niharika NM and even Liza Khoshy, were seen donning the fabulous works of these designers.


Indian Shoes, Jewellery and Bag designers

No outfit is complete without some jewellery, a good pair of footwear, and a bag that matches the ensemble's vibe, making the person wearing it look put together. Along with seeing the work of several Indian fashion designers, the festival also saw the creations of those Indian brands whose prime focus is on items that tie the look together— footwear, jewellery and bags. Some of the renowned jewellery brands seen this year include Farah Khan, Renu Oberoi, Tuula Jewellery, Tipsy Fly, Anaqa Jewellery, Mozaati, Anagha, Karishma Joolry, Bling Vine, Radhika Agrawal Jewels, and Jaipur Gems, to name a few as well as footwear brands like Monrow Shoes, Eridani and Shoe Mill. Masoom Minawala adorned a bag from Manaaiki with one of her outfits, paying homage to the Indian designers in the fashion space and their hard work alongside their craftsmanship.
