Commendable initiatives to start supporting this Environmental Day, slowly working to save the Earth

We all know that the environment is slowly deteriorating, and even the slightest steps to conserve our environment would work. As World Environment Day nears, we thought it would be great to commend some applaudable initiatives taken by brands or people alike for you to support.

Let's take a look at some commendable initiatives for this #WorldEnvironmentDay:

Pragya Kapoor's Zero Waste Film and Ek Saath Foundation

Producer Pragya Kapoor heads "Ek Saath Foundation", a movement which caters to multiple causes of tree plantation drives, animal welfare, beach cleanups and more projects under its belt. She also associates with Brown Living, a brand all about sustainability, joining them as a partner and investor. She is the first Indian producer to back a zero-waste film set, the very first in the history of cinema, with her film Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Vaani Kapoor. The idea to apply the philosophy of zero waste to the film was Pragya’s brainchild, making it a huge success at the box office, and setting the trend for zero waste films.

L'Occitane India's Sustainable Ethos

L'Occitane, a luxury skincare brand, has been instrumental in contributing to the environment through its "Big Little Things" recycling programme and Eco-refill packaging. With respect to the environment being at the heart of what L'Occitane believes in, they try to limit environmental impact wherever possible, from formulation to distribution in-store. Their Eco-refills are made with clever design, making them easy to pour, replenishing one's favourite product, saving up to 80% of the plastic used for the original product. The brand strives to minimize the carbon footprint by limiting the use of air transport, promoting the use of renewable energies and, wherever possible, transporting goods by sea, rail or road. Big Little Things is L'Occitane India's first-ever recycling programme in association with Saahas Zero Waste, an initiative where you can recycle your empties at select boutiques across India.
